TAKE A PEAK AT THE WEDDING DAY OF MR & MRS SERMANNI

Our next featured couple is Mr & Mrs Sermanni who celebrated their special wedding day with us here at Western House in August 2022.

How did you meet?

So we actually met on tinder in November 2018. We are both from the southside of Glasgow (me Barrhead and Michael giffnock) so turns out we did have a few mutual connections! We realised that we both used to go to the same row of chalets in Millport every summer when we were kids and we both absolutely love Millport so that's where we had our first date. That sort of leads on to the proposal because it was also in Millport in July 2021 beside crocodile rock. I had given Michael these little love coupons over a year before that were 99p out of the card factory and he had been trying to use them for such extravagant things getting me to take him to Milan for the token that said 'romantic weekend' and there was a token that was just anything of his choice that he hung onto for agesss so I said that was expired cause I was worried he tried to pick something else huge and expensive lol. We were sitting across from crocodile rock and he pulled that token out said he was ready to cash it in and then got down on one knee and proposed. He had champagne in his bag so we then had some sitting on the rocks.

What was the planning process like?

I found the planning process quite stressful as I’m one of these people who like to get everything sorted with plenty of time in advance whereas in the wedding industry the suppliers don’t really contact you to sort out final details until closer to the time! It didn’t help that we were doing our whole house up during the months leading up to the wedding so we had no kitchen, living room or dining room for the 3 months before the wedding. It all came together just in time but parts of the kitchen were still being fitted the day before the wedding.

What made you choose Western House Hotel as your wedding venue?

We picked the western house hotel because we thought the price was very reasonable compared to some other venues, we absolutely loved the look of the venue as we felt it looked more traditional and cosy than a big industrial looking hotel. One of our favourite things was the gardens and the water features and the outside area in general was ideal for a drinks reception. Laura was part of the reason why we went with the western house too because she was extremely experienced and helpful giving us lots of tips and recommendations. The rest of the staff were just as lovely and contributed to us having a great day. Also have to mention the amazing food - we got so many complements afterwards from our guests.

What is your favourite thing about married life?

Favourite part of married life is having the same surname so we feel like our own wee family and also looking forward to being a guest at all our friends weddings without any of the pressure!

What is your top tip for newly engaged couples?

Top tip for newly engaged couples would be to take your time and enjoy the process of picking venue, outfits etc and making a day of these things. I feel like we done everything very fast to get it all booked and on reflection I wish I had taken more time to enjoy it.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

Our favourite part of the wedding day was the speeches - everyone done so well and said such lovely things. We also had singing servers which was a surprise my mum and dad arranged so me and Michael never had a clue.

A special thank you to Mr and Mrs Sermanni for taking part in our Real Life Weddings Feature.
